Career TV Apprenticeships



Videographer/Editor Apprentice
The CareerTV Videographer / Editor Apprentice Program is a semester long, training program for aspirant Broadcast Journalists. Successful candidates will gain hands on experience shooting, editing, uploading and presenting stories for air on CareerTV.com. The successful candidate will work directly with anchors, reporters, producers, and technical and support staff to produce daily and weekly career news content. This content will be reviewed and critiqued by CareerTV staff on a weekly basis to help the candidate develop his or her unique shooting and editing style.

Qualifications:

Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at an accredited college or university to apply
Must receive college credit for the apprenticeship
Communications, Media, Journalism, Film, and Broadcasting majors preferred
Ability to work at least 16 hours a week
Must be willing to travel by train or car throughout the tri-state area
Must be willing to carry 20 - 30 pounds of gear during field production shoots
Experience with video cameras, Final Cut Editing Software, and Mac applications a plus


Reporter/Producer Apprentice
The CareerTV Reporter/Producer Apprentice Program is a semester long, on-air training program for aspirant Broadcast Journalists. Successful candidates will gain hands on experience writing, shooting, editing, and presenting stories for air on CareerTV.com. The successful candidate will work directly with anchors, reporters, producers, and technical and support staff to produce daily and weekly career news content. This content will be reviewed and critiqued by CareerTV staff on a weekly basis to help the candidate develop his or her unique broadcast style.

Qualifications:

Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at an accredited college or university to apply
Must receive college credit for the apprenticeship
Communications, Media, Journalism, Film, and Broadcasting majors preferred
Strong writing and communication skills required
Ability to work at least 16 hours a week
Must be willing to travel by train or car throughout the tri-state area
Must be willing to carry 10 - 20 pounds of gear during field production shoots
Previous news or production experience beneficial but not necessary
